Hey there everyone! It's been quite some time since I last posted here. During that time I've gained lots of insight into myself regarding my patterns, habits, thoughts, and what makes me tick. I wanted to find out why I get so far and then poof, no follow through, especially on the things that I really want for myself in life. For instance, I was determined to learn how to set up a website. In fact it was an intention that I sent out into the Universe and it was of course granted to me. When you consider that I don't know what it is that I don't know about technology, this website is nearly proof that miracles do exist. Yet, sometimes I get overwhelmed when that happens and I shut down. My ego told me that I wasn't good enough or ready enough to get on here and share messages from spirit. My "self-talk" told me that I didn't have credibility to share tips with how you can manifest positive changes and experiences in your life. So I spent time learning about going within. I've found that I wasn't really conscious of many of my thoughts and much less the impact they really do have on my life.
Here's the lesson that I'm excited to share as I release the energy that held me back: Whenever I find myself having an unempowering, low-level aka negative thought, I just simply reach for a different higher level positive based thought. If this sounds to airy fair, let me explain. This process can happen two ways (so far). Depending on the situation, I can simply re-think the thought about the situation. For example, I saw a recent picture of myself and was none too pleased with my proportions. The first thought was, "Geez, I'm so fat!" Normally, I would have gone on for a while with more mental banter about how displeased I was with my appearance. The truth be told, the next thought was to consider burning the top I was wearing and then I quickly realized it's the body fat underneath that needs to go. Without missing a beat, my mind then was upset because I've been watching what I eat, don't eat, too much, and have been having lots of greens. So of course I'm now feeling defeated! Do you see where things were headed? Mind you this all took place in seconds, too. However, I quickly put the brakes on and shut down this train. Remember, I've been learning to be mindful about my thoughts and how powerful they are. Now you can't unthink a thought but you can get into a better frame of mind. So, remember I said this was one of the ways you can use the process. I decided that I could think of things that would help me improve how I appear. I right away gave myself credit for eating healthier and realized that better eating was going to make my body healthier though not necessarily burn fat and promote weight loss. I then thought about how I could utilize all the home exercise DVDs and even find good workouts right on my TV. I've never taken a Zumba class, so I went on the television and I found plenty of quick videos and tried a few. I thought about how quick I can get into shape now that I have the dieting under control.
In the example above, I'm still on the same topic-my weight, but once I became aware of how my initial thoughts were disparaging and discouraging, the best course of action was to exchange my thoughts for ones that would improve the situation.
Okay, so now what about a different situation. I'm going to speak hyperthetically right now. Let's imagine that you are expecting some guests over or have to be at an event. Someone you don't particularly get along with or who makes you very uncomfortable is expected to be there. The moment you learn that this person is attending, your mind recalls the first interaction that caused you to dislike them. Then you link this thought on to any other memories of being around them. But that's not enough, you start imagine what the encounter will be like at this next event! You prepare yourself for warfare. He/she will say this so I'll do that. Well here's where you need to stop yourself if didn't already. Here comes the second way you can mentally deal with this unpleasant thought process. Just think of something totally unrelated that really pleases you. It could be flowers blooming, a baby that you love, puppies. You get the drift.
This second technique is ideal for when we feel that a situation is out of our hands or we need quick relief. The first technique is preferable to me, because it includes problem solving. In fact, I'm still thinking about that picture of myself as I write this. However, I finished my workout and I'm sipping a mango, strawberry, mixed greens, chia infused smoothie to keep my thoughts headed in the right direction.
